Helping you keep your eyes healthy is our mission here at Clearview, so we're excited that May is Healthy Vision Month!
To keep your eyes as healthy as possible follow these proactive recommendations:
Have a comprehensive dilated eye exam
This is more than just a vision screening. Dr Salley places drops in each eye to dilate, or widen, the pupil. This allows him to examine the back of the eyes so that he can see early signs of damage or disease.
Know your history
Eye diseases are often inherited, so it’s important to know if anyone in your family has been diagnosed or lost vision to a disease. This information will help determine your risk level and establish how frequently you should be examined.
Everybody knows carrots are good for your eyes, but did you know that green leafy vegetables are too? We also need fatty fish like salmon and tuna for their omega-3 fatty acids.
Smoking is linked to an increased risk of developing age-related macular degeneration, cataracts and optic nerve damage, all of which can cause blindness.
Give your eyes a break
When using a phone, computer or any electronic device, reduce eyestrain with the 20/20 rule: Every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break to blink slowly and intentionally
Choose sunglasses that block out both UVA and UVB radiation.
Our annual Sunglass Sale starts June 5th and ends June 23rd, all sunglasses will be 20% -70% off!
